Castellani House

On April 28, 2026, members of the Tourism Club visited Castellani House to experience the meticulous work of talented Guyanese artists. The exhibition featured students, graduates, and lecturers of the E.R. Burrowes School of Art, showcasing a collection of paintings, models, and sculptures rooted in cultural and philosophical themes. The trip aimed to help students develop a stronger sense of cultural identity and a deeper appreciation for art by exploring and interpreting the messages behind each piece.

As students moved through the halls, many found themselves inspired, sharing that their minds felt "opened" to new perspectives, while others felt a stronger connection to their history and a renewed appreciation for Guyana. Notably, work by Ms. Tahiri Gerrard, a beloved Visual Art and English Teacher at the college, was also featured. Her pieces explored the often-overlooked role of women in society and were praised by students for both their message and execution.

Overall, the trip achieved its goal. The exhibition offered an eye-opening look into the value of art and the ideas it can express with even the simplest strokes. On behalf of the Queen's College Tourism Club, we extend our sincere thanks to the staff of Castellani House for hosting this enriching experience.
