Easter Retreat 2026

On April 9th, 2026, the Queen's College Tourism Club embarked on its first official trip to The Oasis Resort in Yarrowkabra, along the Linden - Soesdyke Highway. The students, teachers, and accompanying parents departed at 8 am via large buses.

Upon arrival, the students were warmly welcomed by a tour guide, an alumnus of Queen's College {Mr. Joshua Cummings}, who emphasised that adventure and serenity go hand in hand. He explained the rules and safety guidelines to the club members before the activities began. First on the agenda was a scavenger hunt organised by the resort guides and staff. Students were divided into two teams: Team Yellow and Team Pink. The activity served to create a vibrant atmosphere while promoting critical thinking and teamwork, with Team Pink emerging victorious.

The second activity featured an all-terrain vehicle {ATV} riding experience, organised by rotations. While some students explored the sandy terrain, others participated in activities like hopscotch to stay engaged.

Next came an intense round of laser tag, where once again the students were split into two teams: Team Black Diamonds, led by Ms. Akiela David, and Team Spartans, led by Ms. Edwin Moore. However, the Black Diamonds secured the win in the first round. The Teams, consisting of six members each, continued to compete in additional rounds, maintaining high energy and excitement.

The final activity of the day was the zip-line, which provided an adrenaline-filled conclusion to the day's events.

The group then returned to the QC Compound at 19:30 hrs. Overall, the trip was both educational and enjoyable, serving to acquaint students with tourism experiences across Guyana. Furthermore, the club's president, Serah Rodrigues, noted that this trip is just the beginning, as the tourism club looks forward to organising many more engaging tours in the future.
